Dr. Nemechek's hypothesis is that the failure of the body to heal itself is because of the failure of the brain and the autonomic nervous system. In the book, he brilliantly and simply explains the mechanisms at play that results in autistic spectrum disorders in children, and chronic conditions in adults - which are often undiagnosable, untreatable, and dismissed by mainstream medicine/doctors. The food-based method laid out by Dr. Nemechek is aimed at treating small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) to restore gut microbiota balance and at reversing autonomous nervous dysfunction. It is easy to understand, inexpensive and simple to follow - but it does need constant, dedicated work by parents & patients. 5 months into the protocol, my family has come back from the brink of despair and stepped off the hamster wheel of (treating) chronic illness. My daughter is 3 and has speech and gross motor delays. I started this protocol this summer around the same time we went gluten and dairy free. I can't say enough great things about this book and how it's changed my grandsons life! For anyone who has a loved one with autism this book helps so much. This book is very easy to read and follow. Dr. Nemechek has put it into simple terms that anyone can understand. I am following the protocol along with my autistic son. Hoping this will be what brings my son all the way to recovery. He has come a long way with biomedical treatment, but this protocol is the easiest so far to follow and makes sense. Great book! Buy it. You won't regret it!

I work in the health industry and have read almost every book out there that relates to gut health. There is nothing out there like this one. I have never seen such a clear, concise, and accurate detailing of what happens when we lose gut health. If you have digestive issues, read this book. If you have chronic illness, read this book. And of course, if you have a child who is struggling, for any reason, read this book.

I love this book. Dr. Nemecheck really understand how autism like behavior occurs and how to fight it. He does a really good job of explaining it all. The book is an easy read because he breaks it all down over and over again. I loved how it was written. There wasn't too many medical terms that went over my head.M.J.

So much information and yet so easy to understand. Dr. Nemechek answers so many questions from ANYONE for free from on his website, which is not common is it? I say give it a try. Everyone should read this book and tell their friends about it. It makes perfect sense why there are problems with the brain's inability to do it designed function. The author is revealing his documented research, personal case work, and his technique. He is not selling/manufacturing any products to take, but they are available in stores. We see the difference in our family member who is on the protocol.

If you have a child that is cognitively impaired, GET THIS BOOK. We began the protocol not expecting much but have seen great strides in our 4 year old daughter. She is now engaging with others and interested in being a part of a group. I believe this may be her ticket to living a more normal life. Thank you Dr. N for restoring hope.
