Vitality Smartcable - Backed by Clinical Observations
Why Speech Lags Behind — and What to Do About It
Study Description
Between January 2020 and May 2021, 685 pediatric patients with autism spectrum disorder or related developmental disorders were evaluated. Of these:
463 received adjunctive treatment with tVNS as part of their care.
266 were excluded due to confounding illnesses or incomplete follow-up.
197 children were deemed evaluable with adequate follow-up.
The children were treated with the Vitality Smartcable*, administered once or twice daily, with electrodes applied to the auricular branch of the vagus nerve (either the tragus or concha).
Results
Of the 197 evaluable subjects, 160 children (81%) demonstrated clinically meaningful improvements in one or more developmental domains over a follow-up period of approximately 4 to 5 months. Parents, teachers, and therapists reported meaningful improvements in focus, language, and behavior. Individual results may vary.
Speech: 74 of 89 children (83%) showed measurable gains in expressive language.
Motor function: 22 of 22 children (100%) demonstrated improved coordination and movement.
Focus and attention: 28 of 29 children (96%) improved.
Aggression: 35 of 40 children (87%) demonstrated decreased aggression.
